Our first campout to Lindeman Lake is fast approaching. This campout is meant to gain some experience with wilderness camping. Four documents attached to this post. A parent and participant information sheet is posted above. Please see below for an itinerary of our trip, a food preparation and planning document, and our personal supply list. Students have had some practice with all the camping skills they will need for this trip, from setting up camp, to cooking with our whisperlite stoves. Students are responsible for their own food so each tent group will need to organize who brings what. It is important that students bring all appropriate gear for this trip. We have been very lucky with great weather so far in the academy but it could switch to wet and cold anytime. We will discuss gear specifically in class and post a list on the student Edmodo page as well. On October 18 we have a full day hike planned to the ridge above Flora Lake. This is a fairly strenuous uphill hike. It will be a good preparation hike for our term end, multi-day hike. We are asking students to be at school by 6:45 that day for a 7:00 AM departure. We will return for pick up at the school by 6:00 PM. By taking a longer day to account for the hike and travel time we hope we can do some outdoor academic lessons as well. Our final fall Kayaking trips will take place on October 16, 23, and 25. October 16 we will transition to the calm water of the Vedder Canal. October 23 and 25 will be our first river kayaks. The students are very excited about this and have learned a lot while out on Cultus Lake these past weeks. We feel we are off to a great start with the Academy. Please email if you have any questions or concerns. Chris and Jason ![]()
