![]() Now that spring break is over we are officially switching to spring mode in the OEA. We have a jam packed three months coming up with the trip to the Bowron Lakes as a highlight. We will be having at least a day trip a week for the rest of the school year. We begin spring with a four class belay and rock climbing course at Project Climbing Centre in Abbotsford. Owners Brock and Tamara teach our students how to safely belay each other as they climb. We will put these skills to use in June with an outdoor rock climbing trip to Squamish. Once completed, our students also are able to climb and belay each other at Project. Some of our students from last year even worked there part time in the summer. A waiver form was sent home just before spring break for this and is also attached below. The first trip is this Thursday so all forms must be completely filled out and returned to school by Tuesday's class. ![]()
As soon as we finish our rock climbing trips we will begin to seriously train for our canoe trip. We will spend four afternoons at Cultus Lake, along with full day trips to Cultus Lake and Widgeon Creek. Some canoe days end a bit outside the bell schedule so please check ahead on the calendar for specific dates and times. Much more information to come on the Bowron Lakes trip but please see the calendar for the official dates.
In the midst of our rock climbing and canoe units we will have a number of academic themed outdoor ed trips including a geology tour to Squamish, a tour of an ethnobotanical garden at the Cheam First Nation, and a few historic hikes on Hudson Bay Company/First Nations trails. We are excited for all the adventures yet to come this year. Feel free to email anytime if you have any questions. Happy Spring. P.S. Just a reminder that we do have our Easter Purdy's fundraiser going on a the moment. If you are interested in this the information is below.
