Important Information

Canoeing Begins
We begin canoeing tomorrow (Thursday April 17) at Cultus Lake. It is likely to be rainy and cool so students should bring full rain gear and warm non-cotton layers to wear underneath. There is not a plan to get wet tomorrow, but canoe tipping can happen when learning. A towel and some dry clothes are also important to have in a backpack at the lake. Our canoeing days all go beyond the bell schedule as this training time is important in preparation for the Bowron Lakes. We leave school at 12:45 and will be back to Vedder at 3:45. Students will be able to get back in the school. Please make sure to do your best to make sure your son and daughter do not miss these training days.

Drive a Ford
This fundraiser is on April 26. It is a school wide fundraiser but OEA gets 1/3 of what is raised. We want to do our part in bringing people to the school. Please see our previous post for more information on this fundraiser. Students are being asked to find at least 5 driving adults who can commit to driving a ford. The next four students to bring in 10 commitment forms will get a $20 Purdy's gift card. Each person who drives for a specific student also allows that students name to be entered in a draw for an iPad mini. The more people you bring to the fundraiser, the more entries in the draw. This is our last fundraiser and we are hoping to raise a bit of a buffer for our Bowron Trip, as well as purchase a few more items needed for the trip (dry bags and tarps).

Geology Tour to Squamish
If you have checked the calendar lately you will see we have a big day on April 29. We will be doing a multiple stop field trip to the Squamish area to study the unique geology and geography of that region. Stops include Britannia Mine, Brandywine Falls, and a hike up the back of the Stawamus Chief. This is a full day. We will be leaving the school early and will be home around 6:30. Specific times will be sent home before the date, but plan on about a 12 hour day. This is an important academic trip and it is essential that all students can make it.
