![]() Part two of our annual fundraising is coming up on January 10. On this day, between 9:30 and 2:00 we will be collecting cans throughout our school neighbourhood, as well as other areas of Sardis. This single day of work has been very productive for us in the past. In order to do this we do need some volunteers. First, we need people with trucks. If you have a truck and can donate some time, even if it is just in the morning or just in the afternoon please send me (Mr. Falk) an email. We also need parents and students to help with the sorting of cans. If you can do this, please send me an email as well. Last year we had between 8-10 people sorting in front of the school and it was at times hard to keep up with the amount of cans coming in. At 3:00 PM we need to be finished sorting and a truck from Regional Recycling will come by and pick up all of our recyclables. The will then write us a cheque on the spot. Today, students put out flyers in all of the neighbourhoods around VMS during P.E. We are also asking students living in areas we didn't flyer, on the Sardis side of town, to hand out 20 personal flyers in their areas. We need to know which streets they put these on so please make sure they keep track and tell me on Friday. We do not want to put out more flyers than that because we want to make sure we have time to do all of our collecting. If you are not a family on the Sardis part of Chilliwack, please feel free to volunteer or just drop off your own recyclables on that day. Thanks parents. The business of Outdoor Ed will be picking up again in 2015, with at least one trip nearly every single week. The big trip to the Bowron Lakes will be getting booked on January 2, the first day the registration system opens. Look at the calendar to see all of our upcoming events. If you know already that your son or daughter cannot make the Bowron trip, please let us know. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We want to thank those of you who helped us out with our Purdy's chocolate fundraiser. We were very successful. If you have a chocolate order, it is sorted and available for pickup today (December 10) between 2:40 and 3:15. Our other yearly fundraiser, a bottle drive, will be taking place on January 10. We will post information about this early next week.
Our second ski trip to Whistler is tomorrow morning. (December 11) A reminder that we need students ready to go at 5:20 am at VMS. We will be returning around 6:00 pm. Right now it looks like the temperatures are dropping and the rain is turning to snow so that is good news! Many ski resorts in southwest BC were shut down to the extreme winds of yesterday,s storm. Please check your email tonight in case we need to make any last minute decisions about Thursday's trip. |
