![]() We have had and amazing first term with a great group of student this year. Already students have completed a 20km two night trip in the wilderness, multiple day hikes and trail runs, and gone from beginner kayakers to paddling on the river. We have posted a number of photos on our Facebook and Instagram pages so follow those to see more action shots. Now that term 1 is over we take a short break during November to catch up on academic work before term one ends in mid November. Starting in December, we will have a busy winter of downhill skiing/snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter camping. It is during this time of year that we also focus on getting some fundraising done. Each year we ask our outdoor education to help out as much as they can in two fundraisers. These fundraisers help us cover the cost of yearly wear and tear on our gear (those darn raccoons) and to help us ensure we can cover the cost of the Bowron Lakes canoe trip. The first fundraiser is selling Purdy's Christmas chocolate, and the second is a bottle drive. Now that we are done our major fall activities and have about a month of down time we will be starting the Purdy's fundraiser. The bottle drive takes place the first weekend back at school in the new year The fundraiser is very easy to participate in. Below you find a link to the Purdy's Christmas fundraising page we have set up for the Outdoor Ed Academy. We are asking each family to consider making an account. Once you have an account you can feel free to purchase your own chocolate, but more importantly, you can pass on the link to family and friends who may want to support your son or daughter. Each new user can invite anyone they want and our academy will get 25% of all chocolate sales. In past years many small business owners have used this as a great way to get gifts for their staff. Feel free to share the link by email or on your own social media. Anyone is free to make an account and help us fundraise. Here is the link that will allow you to set up your account under our fundraising site. https://www.purdysgpp.com/join/20852 Once you have an account feel free to shop or invite your own friends and family to support us. All payments are made directly online to Purdy's so there is no money exchanged at the school end. All orders must be in by November 30. All the chocolate will be delivered to the school and available for pick up at 2:45 on December 15. Thank you for your support. |
