Just reminder that we are kayaking in the morning tomorrow. Check out the weather forecast. Dress warm and for rain.
![]() Today is the last day we will see our students before our fall backpacking trip, which is next Tuesday. Students will be coming home today with all of the gear they need for the trip so that they can pack their personal clothes and food with it properly. Students need to come to school on Tuesday morning at the regular time, completely prepared to leave for our hike. This means their backpack is well packed and they are dressed in the appropriate hiking clothes. We will spend the first hour of the day on Tuesday doing a final check to ensure that everyone is prepared. I have attached the trip package, which students should have already shown you, below. The long range forecast is looking okay for the trip but we need to be prepared for all weather. Students have planned two group suppers which they will eat together. Students have practice cooking one of these meals. Each student should know what part of the meal they need to bring. Each student is responsible for the rest of their own food. We are looking forward the a great trip! ![]()
We run two annual fundraisers with the Outdoor Education Academy, selling Purdy's chocolates and a bottle drive. The money from these fundraisers is used to replace and repair our equipment we supply our students, as well as to pay for our year-end canoe trip to the Bowron Lakes. Our first fundraiser is selling Purdy's Christmas chocolate. This fundraiser is as very simple and was very effective when we did it last year. If interested, please make an an account following the instructions below and then invite friends and family. The people you invite can then make orders online and pick up their order at VMS on the pick up date. Thank you for your support. See instructions from Purdy's below.
You are invited to participate in VMS Outdoor Education Christmas fundraiser. Please support this worthy cause by clicking the link below to join the fundraiser. https://www.purdysgpp.com/JoinAGroup.aspx?c=20852 Once registered and logged in, you should be directed to the VMS Outdoor Education page. This post is just meant to give everyone a heads up that this is coming up. An update will be sent in November. Our bottle drive is scheduled for January 9. More information to come on that in December. Just a reminder that we have a full day hike on the Needle Peak trail tomorrow. We are meeting at the school at 6:20 for a 6:30 departure. The forecast shows a chance of rain so students need to pack shell pants and jackets in their backpacks. Students also should bring a toque, mitts, and insulation layers for under their shells. All students should have waterproof hiking boots by this time and they are also required. You never know with BC weather. No matter what, it will be a great day and learning experience
