As part of our kayaking unit in Outdoor Ed, each student is now a member of the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence Kayak Club until the end of March. This means that they can sign up for member activities at member rates. The club offers many opportunities at the Cheam Leisure Centre throughout the fall and winter. Please see their flyer below as well as a link to their website. The drop in sessions outlined at the bottom of the flyer would be perfect for our students since we have completed the introduction as part of the our class.
Well, that was wet!
It looked like everyone had a great time on our first trip, or at least some great moments. Some strategically placed tarps, along with a good campfire allowed the trip to be a success. This trip gave our students valuable experience in learning how to manage their clothes and gear to stay as dry as possible while enjoying the outdoors. Living in BC, we are bound to see more trips in wet weather.
Here are a few photos from the trip (sorry, there are not many taken when it's raining all the time)
Great job everyone!
Students have been sent home with backpacks and equipment for next week's two-night trip. They have been planning their meals at school and will need to do some shopping this weekend. Please find a copy of the Parent Info Package attached to this post!
