Hi everyone,
Unfortunately the club that works with us for our kayaking unit is still having some issues with their insurance and we need to cancel Monday's session. Hopefully we will be ready to begin by Wednesday's paddle. Instead, we will take advantage what the forecast predicts to be a nice day to learn all about setting up our tents and shelters. Hi everyone.
We have had to reschedule our first kayak trip, scheduled for tomorrow, Sept 15. This date does not work for our instructor. We are tentatively rescheduling to September 23. Welcome to a new year of the VMS Outdoor Academy. This is the site to visit for important information for students and parents throughout the year. Check the updates tab for important information and the calendar to plan you busy lives around our trips.
Today was our first day with the students and I think we can all agree it's going to be a good year. We are not wasting any time as we have our first day hike up Elk Mountain this Friday, September 11. Students were told how to prepare in class today. If they do not have all their outdoor gear purchased yet for this hike, it is okay, since it is early and the weather forecast looks excellent. Wear your hiking boots if you have them already but if not running shoes will be ok. We will be out all day so a good backpack with lunch and snacks are needed as well. The rest of the fall months will also be busy with many days kayaking, more day hikes, and our multi day backpacking trip. Bookmark this page and feel free to follow us on social media for more updates or photos from our adventures. Feel free to email us if you have any questions. |
