We have our first hike on Thursday Oct 2. Students will be briefed on what to wear and bring with them on Tuesday. To maximize our teaching time outdoors we will be having an extended day for this trip. Please make sure all students are at school by 6:20 AM on Thursday so we can leave school by 6:30. We will aim to return by 5:00 PM. Trip times are in the calendar as well.
We will be hiking the ridge toward Needle Peak, in the Coquihialla Recreation Area. The photo you see was taken this weekend when we scouted the area. We are hoping for similar weather but we will be prepared for all types. We go rain or shine. We are looking forward to a great trip.
We are excited to get the 2014/2015 Outdoor Ed Academy started. Thank you for your patience. This page will be used throughout the year to keep you informed on upcoming outdoor ed activities and other information. Please check back regularly. Updates to this page are also shared on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Our goal is to get the program rolling as soon as possible. This means that there will be a lot of paperwork this week. Students will come home today with trip forms for our kayaking unit, our upcoming backpacking two night trip, and a photo consent form. Please read all forms carefully and make sure you sign and fill out all parts of the form. The forms are also attached at the end of this post.
All overnight and higher risk (ex. involving water) trips will have individual consent forms throughout the school year. Low risk trips are covered by the routine consent form that you filled out in the spring.
The calendar will outline all OED off campus trips. Please check it regularly. On the calendar page you can also subscribe the calendar.
We are looking forward to a great year. Please don't hesitate to email us if you have any questions.
