Hi Parents. Thank you so much for having the faith to put your kids in our program this year. We think it was a huge success. We are a bit tired but at the same time looking forward to doing it all over again next year.
We are also excited to reconnect with some students who can make it to our summer trip. For those attending, please check the website, facebook or your email for trip details sometime in the week before the July 17 to 19 trip.
It seems that we gave out all of our water pumps to those of you coming in July. If you are around this holiday monday it would awesome if I could meet you at the school to get one of those pumps. Mr. Shea and I need one. Email me if that works for any of you.
Parents. Please check you email to access a link to the folder of photos. Please use these photos responsibly and respectfully of those in the photos.
We have looked into a shortened re-scheduled trip this week but unfortunately there are no busses available. The weather doesn't look to be much better before Thursday as well. We will be rescheduling the trip one more time for July 17 to 19. We will get an earlier start on the 17 and do the same trip in two nights/three days. We would love to see as many students as possible make it out. Students already have trip plans ready for this trip and as for meals, hopefully most of your food will still be usable in a few weeks.
Please look carefully at your summer schedules. Email back if your student plans on attending this trip! We would like to know definite numbers by this Thursday. We will be meeting as a class on Thursday after students receive their report cards. Please bring all gear back on Thursday. We will reorganize tent groups and send gear home with students who are attending the re-scheduled trip.
Thanks for all your support all year. We are hopeful to get one last trip in with this great group.
Hi Parents. As you all have heard by now we have had to make the difficult decision of postponing our trip today. The forecast for Manning Park and Princeton calls for thundershowers today and tomorrow. The Heather Trail passes through high exposed ridges and is a very unsafe place to be in the event of a thunderstorm. For this reason we postponed. The trip will be rescheduled shortly. Sorry for the short notice and any inconvenience this has caused.
Hi Parents. We are meeting at the school at 12:00 noon tomorrow, Sunday June 23, to head out on our year end trip. Our expected return time is Wednesday by around 3:00. If it looks like we will be getting to the bus a bit late we will send out a message on the Facebook and twitter pages. Please check our Facebook page or the twitter feed on this page for updates. I have attached all the pre trip information above.
Hi Parents. Just a reminder that we do have our last full day hike on Monday. Students need to be at school by 6:50 and will return by 6:30 in the evening. We are hiking the historic Whatcom Trail in Manning Park. It should be a great day. Students were told to pack plenty of food and water as well as their full hiking boots and clothing layers since we are moving up into some fairly high elevation. Be prepared for lots of sun (sunglasses, hat) or rain (rain shells). No new trip forms are needed for this routine hike.
Tomorrow we will be doing a place names tour of the Fraser Valley led by Sonny McHalsie of the Sto:lo Nation. The trip is a tour from Chilliwack to the Fraser Canyon, explaining Sto:lo origin stories and place names. It fits in with our Social Studies learning outcomes. We believe this will be a great experience and are excited to learn along with our students. This is a routine field trip so no new forms are required. Students were told that they need to be at school by 7:45. We will be home by 2:30. Lunch is being provided by the district Aboriginal Ed department.
