We had a great time on the Bowron Lakes. All of the students did great. It was not always easy, but everyone worked hard. We are very proud of our students and what we accomplished as a class.
Due to the fact that we were not able to be with our students for Thursday's class, we are postponing our hike on the Tikwalus trail, scheduled for June 2. We will move it to June 16. We need another day with our students at school to debrief from the trip, finish cleaning up, and introduce the new Social Studies unit that this hike is a part of. This Tikwalus Trail hike will replace our Dewdney Trail hike originally scheduled for June 16. Due to the snowpack lasting longer than expected this year, the Dewdney hike will not be accessible so we will be cancelling that specific hike.
The days listed in the parent information package for the upcoming Bowron trip were incorrect (the dates were correct)...
We are leaving Friday, May 23, at 7:00 am, and returning Wednesday, May 28, at 7:00 pm.
Please check your calendars and update if necessary. See the attached corrected document with added Personal & Group Supply List to help with packing, and the Denny's meal selection form that needs to be returned to office with payment ASAP.
We have arranged to have our dinner on the way to Bowron Lakes at a Denny's restaurant that is located in Quesnel. We inquired with this Denny's because it is in the hotel we will be staying at on the way home. We will also eat here the night before we get home on May 27, as well the next morning.
Denny's has put together a menu with reduced prices for us so we can stop, have a good sized meal and be on our way quickly to get to Bowron Lakes later that night. This is one less camping meal we need to pack. Students were sent home with an order form so we can pre-order all the meals. Please make sure your son or daughter fills out the form and brings it back to the school office tomorrow, along with the money to pay for the meals. Please note, this also reduces the amount of spending money needed for the actual trip, as outlined in the pre-trip document with our previous post, so adjust that amount accordingly. We do need this information ASAP.
Tomorrow we will be giving final instructions to students regarding meal planning and packing. We would like to use next Wedensday, May 21, to get completely prepared for the trip. Each tent group must have all of their food and gear, including clothing packed. A small daypack with snacks for travelling should be all they need the morning of the trip, May 23. Everything else should be already packed.
Please see the Denny's menu attached below.
Please see the information package attached below for detailed information on our upcoming trip to the Bowron Lakes. Students were given this information today. It would be a good idea to take some time to go over this document with your son/daughter. Please return the Parent Consent Form May 13. Students began preparing for the camping part of this trip on Wednesday this week. Everyone is getting excited, now that the trip is just two weeks away. The photo in this post is from our trip last year. This will be our campsite at Rum Lake.
